Verizon CFO Fran Shammo is “happy” with iPhone 4 sales during the past 6 months and will continue to sell them. (Umm, duh right?)
Shammo talked today at the Reuters Global Technolgy Summit about data plan discounts, (which are non-existent) prepaid plans and the next-generation iPhone (whether that be the iPhone 4S or 5G or something entirely different.)
Shammo noted that the next iPhone will releases simultaneously on both AT&T and Verizon networks. Which implies that the next iPhone will still sport CDMA and GSM netowrks. If that’s the case more likely than not the will use the same Qualcomm chip, which means no 4G LTE chip for the next iPhone! However it will be at least a world-phone this time without having to Jailbreak and unlock the device.
Shammo notes that he’s not concerned about the iPhone’s lack LTE support, citing that Verizon has several high-speed alternatives to keep their customers happy.
“I think it’s a bigger issue for Apple than it is for us,” said Shammo.
What do you think about Apple not supporting LTE network. Do you plan on buying the next gen iPhone when it rolls out? (most likely in December) Or are you still happy with your iPhone 4 or 3GS? Or do you just hate the iPhone all-together. Let me know in the comments below!
